Our first
"Hats & Gloves High Tea"
held on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2010

at Edna Valley Vineyard,
2585 Biddle Ranch Road, San Luis Obispo, CA
Was a Huge Success!!!!!

Women wore their favorite or most outrageous hats and gloves and we had a full house for this uniuqe ladies' afternoon. Prizes for the most original and most elegant hats were given, donated by Wildwood of Cambria and Milly Benson (Morro Bay). The afternoon began with authentic British scones and lemon curd, donated by Diane Kwong (of Mee Heng Low, SLO). Then Maegen Loring Catering (SLO) provided a magnificent buffet assortment of salads and tea sandwiches, followed by decadent desserts from the Tea Cozy in Cambria; Sun-N-Buns of Morro Bay; Breads & Moore (SLO); the Truffle Garden (SLO) and Joni Hunt (SLO). Of course, we also had a Tea Station served by Dragon Pearl Tea (Grover Beach) and as guests left, they were given assorted tea gift samples from Numi Tea (Oakland) and Swan Sisters Tea (Morro Bay.) And, live harp music by Jennifer Sayre provided just the right ambiance. Silent Auction and Raffle items were donated by:

Front Street Inn and Spa (Valerie Seymour) of Morro Bay
   Donna Van Noy (Morro Bay)
   Jennifer Sayre (Shell Beach)
   Sobyl Bunis, D.C. (Templeton)
   Lois Dirkes (SLO)
Huntington Library and Tea Garden (Pasadena)
   Baywood Inn B&B (Baywood Park)
La Palapa Mexican Cuisine & Seafood (Baywood Park)
   Hamilton Estate Jewelry (SLO)
Central Coast Thermography (SLO and various locations)
Four Seasons Biltmore Bella Vista (Santa Barbara)
   Zoey's on Garden (SLO)
   Frances Chace (Los Osos)
   Milly Benson (Morro Bay)
   Flamingo Jo (Los Osos)

Angela Philips gave a presentation on British Tea Time, and Jan Mayfield read her story, called "Sisterhood" about Enhancement's Creative Healing Retreats, the beneficiary of the funds raised at this event. Everyone was instructed to take the hats from the centerpiece of each table and start to pass them around as the story was read. It contained many "rights and lefts" and the guests had to switch direction each time those words came up. At the end of the story, whoever was holding the hat got to keep it as a gift. This was a really fun addition to the afternoon.

Our volunteer helpers were just wonderful, and we the entire event was elegant, delicious and fun!

Since many women commented that although they might not be into the football itself, Superbowl Sunday might not have been the best date for this event.

SO, SAVE THE DATE FOR NEXT YEAR:

Sunday, January 30, 2011 (this is the Sunday BEFORE Superbowl!)
